Our Programs

Canadian Mentor Network (CMN) operates on the principle of ‘Shared Experience’. This is not about telling people how to do things. This is about a Mentor sharing her/his experiences, successes AND failures in order to arm the Mentee with an understanding of how to tackle these issues WHEN they face them themselves. This is about preparing, advising, teaching and learning, and don’t be fooled….the Mentors often learn as much as the Mentees. All must come with an open mind.

CMN offers a variety of delivery options within it’s mentoring programs:

  • Individual one-on-one Mentoring

Mentees are partnered with like minded Mentors. Meetings are scheduled for 10 times per year, monthly for 1-2 hours for a minimum period of 1 year** (the other 2 monthly meetings of the year are Networking Events*). Meetings run all year long. These meetings are scheduled in advance by CMN at a mutually agreeable time and place. Meetings follow an agenda which helps to facilitate relationship development, trust and bring issues to the forefront for discussion. Mentors are encouraged to ask questions, listen and help Mentees arrive at their next course of action.

Mentor/Mentees agree in advance to a ‘Rules of Engagement’ and a ‘Non-disclosure’ agreement to ensure information shared during this time is respected, value is gained and that no sensitive information is shared outside of the Mentor/Mentee relationship.

  • Group Mentoring

Mentees are placed in groups with up to 8 mentees and 1 Mentor. Meetings are scheduled for 8 times per year, monthly for 2-3 hours for a minimum period of 1 year* (the other 2 monthly meetings of the year are Networking Events). Meetings run September through June. Other Mentees are encouraged to share their experiences on the topic of the day resulting in Mentees learning from other Mentees.

Mentor/Mentees agree in advance to a ‘Rules of Engagement’ and ‘Non-disclosure’ agreement to ensure information shared during this time is respected and value is gained, and that no sensitive information is shared outside of the Mentor/Mentee relationship.

Individual one-one-one meetings may be planned as a result of the outcome of each meeting. These follow the same rules of engagement and non-disclosure rules but are more informal.

  • Networking Events

These meetings happen  2 times a year and bring all Mentor/Mentee groups, Individual or Group format, together for an opportunity to hear a speaker (s) on a relevant topic, valuable group discussion and also proves to be a very valuable networking opportunity.

We have studied mentor programs from around north america in order to arrive at what we feel is a mentoring model most likely to add value and amazing results for all those involved.
